LIBERTY MAPS – TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR VEHICLE REMAPPING SERVICES
These Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) apply to all vehicle remapping, tuning, and related electronic modifications (“Services”) provided by Liberty Maps (“we”, “us”, or “our”) to the customer (“you” or “your”).
By booking or purchasing our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before any work commences.
1. The Services & Client Acknowledgement
1.1. Nature of Remapping: You understand that vehicle remapping (ECU tuning) modifies the manufacturer’s standard software parameters to optimize performance, fuel efficiency, or torque.
1.2. Vehicle Condition: It is your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle is mechanically sound, well-maintained, and free of any underlying mechanical or electrical faults prior to the Service. Remapping alters engine performance and can expose or accelerate pre-existing wear and tear or weaknesses in components.
1.3. Pre-Installation Diagnostic: We will perform a basic electronic diagnostic check prior to installing any software. If this check reveals severe active fault codes, we reserve the right to refuse service until the faults are rectified at your own cost.
2. Exclusions of Liability & Pre-Existing Faults
2.1. Component Failure: We modify software parameters within safe engineering tolerances. However, because we do not build or mechanically maintain the vehicle, Liberty Maps accepts no liability for the mechanical or electrical failure of any vehicle components following a remap. This includes, but is not limited to, the failure of:
-
Turbochargers, superchargers, and actuators.
-
Clutches, dual-mass flywheels (DMF), and gearboxes/drivetrains.
-
Fuel injectors, fuel pumps, and high-pressure lines.
-
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valves, Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF), or catalytic converters.
-
Engines, pistons, valves, or head gaskets. 2.2. Increased Wear: You acknowledge that increasing a vehicle's power and torque may increase the wear rate on mechanical components, particularly if the vehicle has high mileage or a neglected service history.
3. Legal, Insurance, and Manufacturer Warranties
3.1. Manufacturer Warranty: You explicitly acknowledge that a software modification may invalidate your vehicle manufacturer’s warranty or any aftermarket mechanical breakdown warranty. Liberty Maps is not liable for any rejected warranty claims.
3.2. Insurance Notification: It is your legal obligation to notify your motor insurance provider of any modification made to the vehicle’s ECU. Failure to declare a remap may invalidate your insurance policy. Liberty Maps accepts no responsibility for your failure to notify your insurer. 3.3. Legality & Emissions (DPF/EGR/Deletes): If you request software modifications that delete or bypass factory emissions control systems (such as DPF, EGR, or AdBlue software deletes), you acknowledge that these are strictly intended for off-road, track, or export use only. Operating a vehicle on UK public roads with emissions equipment removed or disabled may constitute a breach of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations and lead to an MOT failure.
4. Software Warranty & Reverts
4.1. Lifetime Software Warranty: We provide a lifetime warranty on the remap software code itself against bugs, corruption, or defects. If the software map file corrupts, we will reinstall it free of charge.
4.2. Main Dealer Overwrites: If your vehicle is taken to a main dealer or manufacturer service center and they overwrite our modified software with a factory update, this is outside our control. We can reload your performance remap file for you, but a standard re-flashing fee will apply.
4.3. Reverting to Stock: If you wish to return your vehicle to its original factory settings at a later date, we can re-install your original backup file. A standard labor fee may apply for this service. (After the 30 Day Satisfaction Guarnetee)
5. Cancellations, Fees, and Payments
5.1. Payment: Payment in full is due immediately upon completion of the remapping service, before the vehicle keys are returned to you, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
5.2. Mobile Services: If we travel to your location for a mobile service and the job cannot go ahead due to the vehicle having major pre-existing mechanical issues a £50 call-out and diagnostic fee will be charged to cover travel time and fuel.
6. Consumer Rights & Contentment Policy
6.1. Results Variation: Every engine is unique. Quoted power and torque gains are estimates based on identical models in optimal condition. Actual power figures achieved can vary depending on fuel quality, atmospheric conditions, engine wear, and component health. Liberty Maps does not guarantee exact performance metrics.
6.2. Statutory Rights: Nothing within these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
